LaMelo Ball Reveals the Inspiration Behind His Tattoos and Which One Hurt theMost

The Rookie of the Year 2021, Lamelo Ball, was a megastar even before earning his #3 overall pick. Thanks to the massive branding from LaVar Ball, his youngest son had bright stars following him since his high school days. All this hype, because LaMelo always had more than just basketball to his overall personality.

Take his body tattoos for example. The youth star relates very much to the symbols and ink on his skin. This brings curiosity to discover more about the Charlotte Hornets star.

Which was the first tattoo LaMelo Ball ever got?

In an interview, the 20-YO sensation broke down each of his tattoos and provided convincing reasons for getting them. So first things first, he revealed that it was during his teenage years when he first got inked.

The star point guard expressed, “First tattoo, I was 16. It’s right here on the wrist. You have ‘fear’ and then ‘God’. At that time I was already out of house. My brother was always fine getting tattooed, I wasn’t. I knew I wasn’t gonna get crazy, tattoo my whole body.”

Which one pained the most?

whatever happens… GOD GOT ME

— Melo (@MELOD1P) May 20, 2020

Melo, who had the chance to swap his jersey with Carmelo Anthony in his rookie year, is accustomed to testing his body’s highest limits. So those tattoos and the momentary pain do not necessarily bother him. Yet, he revealed having a rather interesting experience the first time around.

The shiniest member of the Ball family detailed, “I fell asleep on every single one of my tattoos. The first one, I forgot to eat. My a– almost passed out.”

Melo’s chest tattoo and its bigger meaning

His chest tattoo has a huge ‘1’ in the center. Notably, LaMelo Ball wears #2 jersey even when he is crazy for #1 and is trying to grab hold of that figure.

As he discussed his chest tattoo, “Chest piece. It’s the one in the middle, but the one that pretty much represents me… Got my sign over it. It’s like the golden child, the one that is angel, then wings, and so it resembles myself.”

The cryptic ink on his arms

LaMelo has his arms covered with a complex design of artistic tattoos. About them, he added, “On my arm, it’s a baby lion looking at me… a young Melo who I was around my family. Then the big lion, obviously you see where I am now.”

Taking inspiration from his father, this youngster is full of confidence and does not shy away from calling himself a lion, ready to take over the reign.

“There’s a 101 above that. On the arm, it’s my logo LB1. Then it’s my little partner in crime, my little twin, it’s a rare one,” said Michael Jordan’s biggest hope for the Hornets’ revamp.

What has LaMelo Ball got on his legs?

Well, his left leg has ink right below his knees. The one in a million (with multimillion following) boy has a good reason to have those tattoos there. As he concluded, “it’s rocket, old logo of my pops, it’s an astronaut because I’m out of this world. Sky is the limit. I’m self-made, I should feel me.”

Currently, Melo is doing wonders on the court in the ongoing 2021-22 season. So if you’re his fan, which 101 tattoo would you want on your skin? Let us know in the comments section below.
